Flying high into the sky is no more an expensive business; get ready to enjoy the thrill of flying. A California-based company has designed a bike that can fly at a speed of 72 kilometres per hour, up to a height of 10 ft in the air.

The “Aero-X hoverbike,”manufactured by Aerofex is priced at $85,000 (₹ 49, 78,875) and is expected to hit the air in 2017. Design of the bike makes it easy to take off or land anywhere. The two-seater bike that operates like a motorcycle is easily controlled with handlebar grips and can be mastered within a short time of one week. Additionally, the bike can carry 140 kg of weight and when on a full tank of gasoline fly for more than one hour, Discovery News reported.

The hoverbike, can be used for several purposes including surveying, search and rescue, border patrol, disaster relief, according to a statement on the company’s official website.

The company assured that their flying bike is safe as they have tested and rectified the control and stability problems commonly found in its predecessors.

“We’ve done a lot of work to learn how to remove the coupling effect,” Mark De Roche, chief technology officer and founder of Aerofex, told Discovery News. “That’s the key for someone who only has motorcycle experience to be able to get on it and feel comfortable right away.

Flying enthusiasts can register in the company website and book their hoverbike at a pre-order deposit of $5000 (₹2,92,875).
