Ness Wadia wrote to the Mumbai police on Wednesday furnishing a list of nine witnesses to counter the molestation charges placed against him by ex-girlfriend Preity Zinta.
Zinta had accused Wadia of threatening and molesting her at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 30, during an IPL match between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings. The police filed an FIR and are investigating the issue following a complaint from the actress.
“I believe these persons who were present would be able to provide independent and truthful facts about the events that took place at the stadium, with regard to the false complaint filed by Preity Zinta against me,” Wadia said in his letter to the Mumbai police, as reported by ENI News.
Wadia, 44, provided names of nine witnesses — six women and three men — who he claimed were present at the stadium and asked the police to record their statements. He said the allegations against him were false, NDTV reported, citing sources.
Zinta has submitted a list of 14 witnesses to the police. According to the NDTV report, three witnesses have confirmed the sequence of events as narrated by Zinta in her statement to the police.
The 39-year-old actress, had earlier on Wednesday, posted her version of the incident on her Facebook page, stating that it was her attempt to ‘set the record straight’.
She mentioned that the several allegations and speculations floating around after the incident were the reason why she filed an FIR against her former boyfriend who is also the co-owner of an Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket team.
