Gemma Whelan, who plays Yara Greyjoy on Game of Thrones, will reportedly re-appear in the sixth season of HBO’s hit fantasy series. Yara was last seen in season 4.
The last season has several loose ends and fans were not sure about the whereabouts of Yara, the badass sister of Theon Greyjoy. The warrior, however, is not the only character to be resurrected in the next season. Cinema Blend reports that Hodor, The Hound, a young Ned Stark as well as Shae- Tyrion’s lover- are all appearing in the sixth season of GoT.
Is Stannis dead? (Major Spoiler Alert)
A new official book called Game of Thrones: The Noble House of Westeros Seasons 1-5 has put to end all speculation about Stannis Baratheon’s fate. At least, that is what Vanity Fair wants us to believe. The confusion over whether or not Stannis is dead comes from a scene where Brienne of Tarth is seen swinging a sword to kill Baratheon. Game of Thrones fans, however, know that a character is not dead until the camera shows the dead body. George R.R. Martin has also maintained that Stannis is alive in the books.
“Stannis was killed outside of Winterfell by Brienne of Tarth, who wished to avenge Renly’s death,” according to a note released by editor of Watchers OT Wall.
Earlier, the episode’s director, David Nutter had confirmed that Stannis was dead, saying “it would have been gratuitous. You really got a sense that Stannis had nothing else to live for. Brienne’s lifelong mission had come to an end. It’s a situation in which Stannis was ready to die and prepared to die.” GoT has not really been subtle about character deaths. So, the makers claiming that they didn not show a death scene is kind of hard to believe.
